Driven by curiosity, grounded in experience, and inspired by the potential of technology to improve lives.
I am a Computer Science professional with a strong interest in using technology to solve real-life problems and improve people's lives. My professional journey has taken me through software development, information systems, technology project coordination, and academic leadership. These experiences have strengthened my technical skills, broadened my perspective, and helped me understand how technology can be used to address practical needs and challenges.
My academic foundation includes a BSc and an MSc in Computer Science. During my master's research at Addis Ababa University, I investigated information security and privacy in OpenMRS, an open-source healthcare information system. My work focused on strengthening the protection of sensitive health information, including the design and implementation of an access-control approach. This experience deepened my appreciation of the responsibility that comes with developing technology for healthcare environments, where information security, privacy, and trust are essential.
Over time, my interest has grown toward the intersection of healthcare and trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. I am particularly interested in exploring how AI-supported clinical decision systems can help healthcare professionals recognize potential risks, identify inconsistencies in patient information, support medication safety, and make more informed decisions. I believe such technologies should be transparent, reliable, and designed to strengthen—not replace—the judgment of healthcare professionals.
Beyond academic work, I value the process of turning ideas into practical solutions. My experience in software development and digital platform creation has allowed me to engage with real-world technical challenges, from understanding user needs to designing and developing functional systems. My work in academic leadership also strengthened my appreciation for education, collaboration, and the importance of creating environments where people can learn, question, and grow.
As I look toward doctoral study, I hope to build on this interdisciplinary foundation through rigorous research, collaboration, and continuous learning. My long-term aspiration is to contribute to trustworthy, human-centered healthcare technologies that are not only technically sound but also meaningful, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the communities they serve.
